Cyrus has extended its Double Independent Chronograph Evolution (DICE) collection with a limited edition in the saffron orange and green accent colours of the Indian flag.
Its skeletonised dial exposes the workings of the automatic CYR718 movement, which can time two intervals independently using start, stop and reset pushers on opposite sides of the 42mm cushion-shaped case.
The ultimate luxury sports watch is made from polished and brushed Grade 5 titanium and worn on the choice of an orange Cordura fabric strap or titanium bracelet.
Cyrus Klepcys DICE Saffron’s calibre CYR1718 is made from 443 components and beats at 28,800 vibrations/hour.
Its single barrel offers 55 hour power reserve.
The watch effectively has two independent chronograph movements, two main plates and two display axes: one corresponds to the chronograph seconds and the other to the 30 minute counter of the double chronograph.
The chronographs are activated by two column wheels, which in turn activate the different levers and couplings that move the seconds and 30 minute chronograph display.
“This innovative chronograph is the result of a deep reflection on the role of timing in sports competitions,” explains Cyrus master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon.
“In many sports, it’s often important to measure elapsed times with different starting times. This occurs, for example, in races like marathons or biathlons where athletes do not cross the starting line at the same time or in motor racing where two drivers, during the race tests, start at different times. In events like these, where the starting time is different for every sportsman, the Klepcys DICE chronograph can measure the times between two consecutive runners or racing drivers. A similar situation arises in car rallies, where it is common to use two independent chronographs. Our latest timepiece facilitates this operation thanks to the two mono pusher crowns, which are essential to avoid any unwanted manipulation,” he adds.
The saffron edition is made in a limited run of 50 pieces for the titanium watch on a matching metal bracelet, and an additional 50 units on the orange cordura strap.
