G-SHOCK has added a heart rate monitor to new models of its classic 5600 square-shaped family.
Casio’s DW-H5600 G-SQUAD series have smartwatch connectivity to a mobile phone app that will track data from an onboard heard rate monitor, making it a valuable companion for measuring performance during exercise.
An optical sensor on the underside of the watch measures changes in blood flow to track heart rate and it also has an accelerometer to count steps.
Married to an app of a GPS-connected smartphone, the watch can also measure and performance distance over time.
Based on the body’s data captured by the watch, performance and condition can be analysed and displayed using an app powered by Polar.

The watches can be fully charged in around three hours and will keep running for a week.
Prices for the DW-H5600 G-SQUAD start at £269 and go up to £389 for special editions.
