Carrington Smith flies the flag for British watchmaking at WATCHPRO Christmas Market

Where possible, Carrington Smith sources components from within the UK, and aims to use British craftspeople who share its obsession with quality and attention to detail.

Carrington Smith sprang to life when Stephen Carrington and Robert Smith, both keen watch collectors, came together in 2019 to see if they could create timepieces inspired by their own passion for horology and design in the South West of England.

The co-founders’ aim was to extract the essence of iconic aesthetics from industries like aviation, shipping and automobiles and infuse them into their timekeepers.

Carrington Smith will be presenting its watches at next week’s WATCHPRO Christmas Market, which takes place in a pop-up retail space right under the famous billboards that light up Piccadilly Circus in London.

WATCHPRO Christmas Market, running from Friday December 2 to Sunday December 4, is free to visit, but we encourage registration in advance.

All its watches are now assembled entirely in the UK.

The company’s first watch was a homage to Concorde and named the Mach II in tribute to its supersonic speed.

The watch, made to order, is a faithful representation of the machmeter from a Concorde that first reached twice the speed of sound over 50 years’ ago.

Another watch with a connection to historic aviators is the VE75, which has a dial decorated with propeller tips using metal from a Spitfire, a Hurricane and a Wellington that were downed in the Battle of Britain.
