Bell & Ross says its new BR 03 Cyber Ceramic embodies its uninhibited vision of futuristic watchmaking.
The limited edition of 500 pieces comes in a matte black ceramic case with its skeletonised movement using the same material and finish for artfully crafted bridges and plates.
Its design and construction are derived from two sources: the traditional BR 03 architecture and the graphic and futuristic codes of the French watchmaker’s Cyber concept creation.
The result is a 42 x 43.7mm open-worked piece with the dark, angular design of a stealth bomber.
Its movement is based on a BR-CAL.383 Manufacture automatic movement with black skeletonised main plate and bridges and a 48 hour power reserve.
Creating the clean lines and sharp edges of the case and movement in ceramic required complex production methods performed at very high temperatures.
“Grinding with diamond powder made it possible to resurface the facets, like jewellers cutting a precious stone. To preserve the purity of the design, the horns have disappeared, and the housing for the rubber strap has been cut into the case,” explains Bell & Ross co-founder and creative director, Bruno Belamich.
