Bamford Watch Department to work with artist

The Bamford Watch Department is launching a range of watches designed in collaboration with artist Marc Quinn.

The work of internationally renowned artist Marc Quinn can be seen in museums and galleries around the world.

Time is one of the most important themes in Quinn’s work. However, this is the first watch he has designed. The exclusive watch collaboration comes in three dial designs – low altitude (brown), mid altitude (blue) and high altitude (white), featuring the Bamford Watch Department’s signature black military-grade titanium coating (MGTC). The timepieces come in a specially designed box, inspired by a genuine black box flight recorder. They also feature hands inspired by commercial flight.

As part of the collaboration, a limited number of hand-painted t-shirts will also be available, as will temporary tattoos to mimic the watches. They will all be exclusively available at Dover Street Market.

Bamford Watch Department founder George Bamford said: “When the opportunity arose to work on a range of watches with Marc Quinn, we just couldn’t say no. Marc is an inspirational stalwart of the International art scene and it was a pleasure and a joy to see him lend his hand to this range."

Although time is one of the most important themes is Quinn’s work, this is the first watch he has designed. The artist has designed three different watches in editions of five.”

Quinn is also excited by the collaboration. He said: “I’ve always been obsessed with time and the measurement of time, when I met George it seemed like a natural progression to make a watch together and I’m thrilled with the result.”

The watches are available exclusively from Bamford Watch Department at Dover Street Market, with prices available on application.
