ATOWAK mixes-it-up with the Swiss as it unveils a disruptive sub-£2,200 central tourbillon timepiece

Hong Kong-based watchmaker is capable of producing in house tourbillon movements in watches selling for little more than £2,000.

Hong Kong-based ATOWAK mixed fact-finding, relationship-building and product promotion at its recent participation at Time to Watches in Geneva.

The business was established in 2017 as a manufacturer helping microbrands make unique mechanical watches but launched its own collection under the ATOWAK name in 2020 when the Ettore series was unveiled.

Ettore watches have a complex four-arm wandering time display, with more than a hint of the Urwerk about them, but priced at only £1,057.

They run on an automatic movement that was developed in house.

At Geneva’s Time to Watches, the business presented its ATOWAK CORE tourbillon collection, which represents a significant breakthrough in technological innovation and craftsmanship.

The collection uses an in-house central tourbillon movement, which the company says is a symbol of the Earth’s pulsating energy.

“The perpetual motion of the flying tourbillon reflects the Earth’s infinite power, ready to break free and erupt,” ATOWAK suggests.

It is powered by ATOWAK’s 196 component AK-T01, CORE movement, which has over 120 hours of power reserve.

ATOWAK’s CORE watches are on pre-order for £2,196 ahead of an official May 21 launch date.

Exhibiting in Geneva gave ATOWAK both the opportunity to present its latest timepieces, and also to mix with many of the world’s leading watchmakers.

“We are honoured to have participated in the Time to Watches exhibition and to have had the opportunity to engage face-to-face with watch enthusiasts in Europe,” said the founder of ATOWAK, Johnny Deng.

“This exhibition provided us with a valuable opportunity to make our debut in Geneva and to connect with leading watch brands and enthusiasts from around the world. In the future, ATOWAK will continue to participate in various exhibitions, allowing watch enthusiasts worldwide to experience the unique design of ATOWAK watches.”
