Independent watchmakers are continuing their meteoric rise, and few have shot up faster in recent years than Glasgow-based anOrdain, whose artisan enamel dials are catnip to expert collectors.
The great news to these collectors is that anOrdain will be presenting its latest timepieces at WATCHPRO Salon, which takes place at The Londoner Hotel on Leicester Square from November 11 to 12.
anOrdain will exhibit alongside other hot British independent watchmakers including Elliot Brown, Schofield and William Wood in a show that is on track to double in size over the 2021 event.
anOrdain has a young team of around 15 at its Glasgow atelier where it designs, manufactures components and assembles its watches.
It took several years to master the enameling techniques that are used for its signature dials including fumé enamel, where colours darken or lighten from the centre to the perimeter of the watch face.
Reliable movements from Selitta and ETA are used in current collections. All watches are assembled and tested in Glasgow.
Among anOrdain’s best sellers are the Model 2 field watches, which come with a range of coloured opaque enamel dials.
The original Model 2 launched in 2019 in a 36mm steel case, but earlier this year a 39mm option was added in four colours: white, British racing green, grey and flax.
anOrdaine says it can only make around 200 of the Model 2s per year because of the time it takes to make the hand-enameled dials.
For the whole company, the anOrdain’s team of in-house enamelers produces fewer than 50 dials per month.
This perfectionism, coupled with strong demand, means there is currently a waiting list of over two years for for anOrdain’s watchesm which retail for around the £2,000 mark.
This scarcity is another reason why collectors are so excited about the brand and why WATCHPRO Salon is so delighted to welcome the brand into the show.
