The Big Crown Automatic stainless steel silver dial men’s watch hits the bullseye with this year’s trend for retro styling.
The watch faithfully recreates elements of a timepiece Oris recently discovered in its archives covering the 1910s including its onion-shaped big crown, early 20th century Arabic numerals, blued steel hands, and domed glass.
Even the vintage Oris logo has been revived.
The design may be retro, but the internal workings are brand new, with Oris creating the Calibre 732 for the timepiece.
The movement has a quirky feature straight from the archive watch: its hours and minute hands can only be adjusted when its pusher at 2 o’clock is pressed so that fidgety pilots didn’t accidentally get the time wrong.
Only 1917 units of the £1310 Big Crown Limited edition were made this year, but we hope Oris will revisit that decision and keep this classic going.
