Oris has successfully positioned itself in the premier league of divers’ watches, and this year’s Divers Sixty-Five with a touch of bronze in the bezel has simply floored us.
It is the second year in a row that the Sixty-Five has featured in our Watches of the Year roundup, testament to the consistency and flexibility that the model’s base design allows.
The vintage look of our favourite piece this year, which pays homage to the brand’s first divers’ watch from 1965, is outrageously handsome.
Water resistant to 100 metres and with a 38 hour power reserve, the sixty-five lacks for nothing on its spec sheet, but it is its use of bronze on the model this year that is the talking point.
Oris has worked with bronze previously but only in limited edition collections.
The subtle bronze outer ring around the edge of the unidirectional rotating bezel represents the first time that the material has made it into the main collection, and watch lovers the world over are the beneficiaries.
