Highly Commended. Women’s Watches of the Year 2014.
Christophe Claret first timepiece for women is a truly whimsical affair, a mechanical flight of fancy that may, justifiably, be viewed as being a touch patronising with its lovestruck game of ‘he loves me, he loves me not’.
While we can’t imagine too many women who can afford the six-figure price tag being the types to sit around in a dreamy daze wondering whether a chap holds them dear, the Margot is a stunning creation, a thing of utter beauty.
With each press of a pusher at the 2 o’clock, a petal (or sometimes two) of the central flower disappears with a new conclusion to the phrase ‘He love me…’ appearing below.
Each instance is marked with a chime from a hammer and gong that can be viewed through a window in the case band while a flower-shaped rotor visible to the rear is set with eight triangular precious stones. The crown is tastefully hidden behind the uppermost lug.
