Raymond Weil continued its longstanding association with the music industry last night by presenting a Living Legend Award to Mark Knopfler at the SSE Scottish Music Awards.
UK managing director Craig Leach presented the trophy to the iconic singer, songwriter and guitarist, best-known for his time with Dire Straits, although the band has not performed together since 1995.
Accepting the award, Mr Knopfler said: “When I was a little fellow lying in bed not far from here listening to the music of the River Clyde, the noise of the fog horns and the ships, I used to absorb all the sounds of Scotland. A songwriter couldn’t ask to be born in a better place.”
