Aviation watch brands often struggle to differentiate themselves from the competition, but Dartmouth Brands’ own Avi-8 brand certainly stood out from the crowd this year with its homage to the custom-built Pegasus engine from Rolls Royce – the engine that allows a Harrier jet to hover and maneuver vertically.
A Miyota Japanese made 21 jewel self-winding movement is the engine inside the watch itself, while subtle Harrier references adorn the exterior.
For instance, a front profile silhouette of the Harrier acts as a marker for an easier read out.
Crafted out of marine grade 316 L stainless steel, another quality feature is the genuine buffalo hide leather strap with bi-colour detailing on the sides, which provides both a snug fit and an attractive look.
Aviation watches are timeless but to present one in such an accessible and commercially appealing way is an impressive feat from this fledgling brand.
