Highly Commended. Luxury Watches of the Year 2014.

This Grande Lange – and you know it must be special if it doesn’t sit comfortably in the ‘regular’ Lange collection – hands centre stage over to the moon phase complication.

Moon phase is normally a complication that finds itself in a supporting role but this time around attention has been lavished on it. It will remain accurate for 122.6 years thanks to a seven wheel transmission that allows for resolution of almost a complete synodic month of 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds.

The vivid pictorial display, presented on a solid gold lunar disc, is also connected to the watch’s hour wheel, ensuring a constant movement. Beneath the off-centre dial and within the 41mm case – which comes in yellow gold, pink gold or platinum – is a 4.7mm hand-wound movement offering 72 hours of power reserve through a single mainspring barrel.
