SHOWSTOPPER WATCHES OF THE YEAR: Chopard L.U.C. Full strike

HIGHLY COMMENDED

The gold medal winner of this year’s GPHG Awards was the Chopard L.U.C. Full strike, the crowning glory of the watchmaker’s 20th anniversary collection.

The watch features Chopard’s first ever minute repeater, striking the hours, quarters and minutes on sapphire gongs.

It has taken Chopard six years to create the watch’s calibre 08.01-L, building on the Strike One, launched in 2006, which chimed every hour.

The movement has three pending patents.

The £190,000 horological masterpiece is not just a museum piece, it is highly wearable and extremely beautiful in its 42.5mm rose gold case.
