Q&A: Ian Latham on what to expect from Bering at IJL

In the first of a series of Q&As with watch exhibitors at this year’s International Jewellery London (IJL) 4-6 September, we speak to Bering’s UK country manager Ian Latham to find out where the Scandinavian brand is headed in 2016.

What are your brand’s goals in the UK in 2016?

“To continue to build on the success of the last four years and to increase the number of accounts stocking our Symphony ring collection.”

What progress have you made in the last 12 months?

“We increased our sales by 35%, opened our first Bering kiosk in Cheltenham and established a UK office – quite a year!”

What are you looking to achieve by exhibiting at IJL?

“I really want an opportunity for jewellers to look at the 25 new watches we will be introducing and also look closely at our Symphony ring collection. In Germany for example, we have jewellers who sell our watches extremely well, but 40% of their overall Bering turnover is coming from Symphony rings.”

What will you be showcasing?

“In addition to our new watches and rings, we will feature our Limited Edition 2016 Charity watch, this year it is a titanium grey ceramic watch and, as there are only 888 individually numbered watches worldwide, they will sell out very quickly.”

What do you like about the IJL formula?

“Because it is held in the capital and has the international feel – it is exactly was it says it is, International Jewellery London.”
