Lange extends Saxonia line with platinum timepiece

A. Lange & Söhne has unveiled its Saxonia timepiece in platinum, as the brand continues to develop its line of annual calendar timepieces.

The Saxonia model was first unveiled three years ago and has since been created in rose and white gold, becoming an iconic timepiece for Lange and a benchmark for calendar watches.

The new platinum model has a rhodiumed silver dial, date showing the month and day of the week, and a moon phase.

It also houses an intelligent mechanical movement that ensures the different durations of the months, whether 30 or 31 days, are always correctly displayed. This means the Saxonia’s date must only be advanced once a year using a simple push button, as the wearer goes from February to March.

The watch also boast an especially accurate moon-phase that only needs to be corrected by one day every 122 years, while its self-winding SAX-0-MAT calibre has a patented zero-reset function that makes it easy to set the time.

The watch has a sapphire crystal caseback through which the 21ct bi-directional rotor can be seen, with a three-quarter plate made of untreated German silver.
