JOB OF THE DAY: General Manager for Laings new Glasgow flagship

We are seeking an exceptional General Manager; a well-respected leader able to influence and innovate within our unparalleled luxury environment.

An overseer of the broad scope of operations for our New Flagship Showroom in Glasgow, you will be valued for your contribution to bringing Laings to the forefront.

You will have an infectious passion for steering their team to deliver outstanding customer service and take strong ownership to generate sales growth.

Able to prioritise effectively in a fast-changing environment, invent and simplify you will be well able to communicate clearly and persuasively. All underpinned by a meticulous sales process and operational strategy.

Here Is How We See Your Role:

  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the store through assessing, delegation, monitoring, and implementation of any necessary procedure to attain this.
  • Attain sales and profit excellence by the achievement of set monthly and yearly targets.
  • Oversee the application of all health, safety, and security policies to ensure team member and customer safety.
  • Maintain transparent and open communication with team members and management. Encourage store team members to innovate and share ideas.
  • Implement and oversee the highest standards for the store ensuring that windows, shop interior and exterior along with back-office spaces are maintained to an optimal level.
  • Oversee all aspects of Customer Service delivery to ensure it is consistently imparted in line with Laings reputed high standards.
  • Effective and timely management of customer complaints to ensure a satisfactory resolution for both customer and Laings.
  • Pro-actively develop our database of customers and ensure that all data gathering opportunities are maximised by team members.
  • A revered role model for the store, generate business through networking and identifying opportunities to introduce Laings to other businesses.
  • Consistently communicates and trains team members on launched new products and ensure that the team is knowledgeable on all aspects of product knowledge to deliver exceptional customer experience.
  • Evaluate each team member’s performance to determine progress, in turn identifying developmental needs and to promote, celebrate successes.
  • Recruit to build a team of top talent and develop relationships with future candidates to ensure we are always ready for the next team member. Collaborate with our Internal Recruiter on building a highly engaged, results driven team.
  • In collaboration with Marketing team, assist when requested with event management.

The Perfect Person We are Looking for Must Have: 

  • A minimum five year’s prior experience as General Manager or similar managerial level role, ideally in the luxury retail sector.
  • Professional approach with the ability to listen, acknowledge, and assess relevant information.
  • Ability to communicate relevant information with all staff and Directors at all business levels.
  • Excellent foresight to develop our business and our staff.
  • Ability to work as both part of a team and under own initiative.
  • Displays a positive, motivated, and enthusiastic attitude to inspire and motivate others to achieve and attain Shop targets and results.
  • Sound IT skills and prior experience in reporting analysis.
  • Outstanding companywide commercial awareness.
