British Horological Institute and NAJ create watches 101 course for retailers

Understanding watches in a retail environment course designed to give shop floor staff a rounded understanding.

The British Horological Institute (BHI) and the National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) are co-hosting courses that give retail staff the knowledge and tools they need to be more effective in front of customers.

In an era when customers come through the door armed with expertise on brands, collections, complications and prices, it is vitally important that retail teams come across as equally well-informed.

The new two-day BHI and NAJ course, Understanding Watches in a Retail Environment, has been specifically devised for retailers, and advertisement in The Horological Journal, the official journal of the BHI, states.

“By the end of it, [delegates] will know about the different types of watches, their terminology and how they work, and to be able to change batteries and straps. They will also have a wealth of knowledge about timepieces that can be shared with customers,” it adds.

The first course takes place October 22 to 23 at the BHI headquarters, Upton Hall in Newark, Nottinghamshire (pictured top).

It costs £250, without accommodation. Rooms are available on site.
