Beaverbrooks beats giants of retail to be named UK’s Happiest Place to Work

A family-owned retailer of jewellery was named ‘The Happiest Place to Work’ at the annual Retail Week Awards, which were hosted on Thursday 30 March in London

Family-owned jewellery retailer, Beaverbrooks, was named ‘The Happiest Place to Work’ at the annual Retail Week Awards.

The award, which is sponsored by tech corporation Microsoft, was presented to Beaverbooks at the Retail Week Awards ceremony – which was hosted at the Intercontinental Hotel O2 in London on Thursday 30 March 2023.

Beaverbrooks beat out supermarket chain, Aldi; British fashion retailer, AllSaints; e-commerce company, eBay; British lifestyle brand, FatFace; specialist retailer, Majestic Wine; personalised stationery e-commerce company, Papier; and women’s clothing brand, Phase Eight.

Sharing the retailer’s response to winning the award, Beaverbrooks managing director, Anna Blackburn said: “As a 104 year-old family-owned business, doing the best for our colleagues is in Beaverbrooks’ DNA, and this is reflected in every business decision we make.

“We truly believe that happy, engaged and empowered colleagues with high levels of job satisfaction, goes hand-in-hand with sustainable profit – one without the other doesn’t work; there must be a balance.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised for our ongoing commitment to our people.”

The Retail Week Awards aims to celebrate the contributions and achievements of retail companies, championing innovation, vision, resilience, and drive.

Alongside championing companies that have excelled in their field, the event honours individuals at every level who have made a significant impact for their company.
