Ten days after returning from Basel, and I am still uncovering nuggets of gold in my notes about great brands and people that I met at the exhibition and are keen to fire up distribution in the United Kingdom.
A meeting with Felix W. Huber, owner of Zeno-Watch Basel was particularly memorable as he is about to celebrate 50 years at the helm of the classic watch brand that was originally created in 1922.
Zeno-Watch Basel claims to have created the fashion for over-sized pilot watches back in 1996. “Now everybody has copied us,” says Huber in a conversation with WatchPro.
The company’s watches are already on sale in the UK on Amazon.co.uk, but Huber hopes to build a much broader network of retailers, particularly among jewellers who know how to sell Swiss-made watches priced at between EUR 500-2500.
“We used to have a representative in the UK, but we are looking for new distributors now,” Huber concludes.
Zeno-Watch Basel designs over one hundred new every year, many are limited editions manufactured in Basel in small series that draw on historic designs from over 100 years of watchmaking for the company.
