Zenith works with Hodinkee on 50-piece limited edition El Primero Revival G381

Hodinkee is at it again with another limited edition likely to have collectors reaching for their plastic.

A limited edition Zenith El Primero Revival G381, a faithful recreation of the 1969 original that was rare enough back in the day (only 700 were made), is being produced with a run of only 50 numbered pieces.

The 38mm yellow gold watch would have worn a little small a few years ago, but is increasingly hitting the spot with both men and women wanting a piece of history on their wrists in its 1960s size.

It has a white lacquered dial with overlapping black Panda  subdials. Aficionados may notice it has slightly smaller chronograph pushers and crown than the 50 year-old model.

Also unlike the original, it has a sapphire caseback through which the Zenith’s caliber 400 El Primero chronograph movement can be seen.

The watch is only available from the Hodinkee shop from 9am EST on August 21 for $19,200.

“Whether you’re a savvy collector looking for something special or someone who simply wants a gorgeous, sporty chronograph from one of the first names in the game, the Limited Edition Zenith El Primero G381 is a cool modern example with vintage touch points that honours the birth of the legendary El Primero,” Hodinkee says.
