Split seconds count in the hugely competitive world of classic car rallying, which is one reason why Zenith associates itself with the sport. The El Primero chronograph is billed as the only mechanical watch able to measure time to the nearest 10th of a second.
Zenith’s latest sponsorship deal is with Erik Comas who drives a classic Lancia Stratos; a car that dominated the sport four decades ago.
Comas holds seven motor racing titles including the Formula 3000 International Championship title in 1990, F1 driver from 1991 to 1994 and second place in the Le Mans in 2005. Since 2000, he has focused on historic car competitions and has been driving a Lancia Stratos since 2011.
"The chance to bring this legendary car together with the brand behind an iconic watch as a team bearing their name – El Primero Stratos – was a unique opportunity", said Comas.
