Zenith announces new round of limited editions

Zenith is to launch a series of limited edition watches, leading the charge with a Rolling Stones El Primero 1969 for the legendary rock group’s current ‘14 On Fire’ Tour.

The watch was announced by LVMH’s watch boss Jean-Claude Biver and the chief executive officer of Bravado, Universal Music Group’s global merchandising division.

Limited to 250-pieces, the Rolling Stones El Primero 1969 features 12-hour and 30-minute chronograph registers in the same midnight blue and slate grey colours of the original 1969 release while the 12-hour counter at the 6 o’clock position also features the Stones’ famed tongue logo.

Zenith’s ‘beating heart’ escapement and balance wheel is revealed on the dial through an aperture while on the reverse the sapphire crystal caseback is engraved with the band logo and inscribed with ‘The Rolling Stones Edition’. The caseback also offers a view of the El Primero 4061 movement inside.

Biver added: “Disruptive thinking gave birth in the 1960s to the first [El Primero] chronograph movement timing to one 10th of a second. The same outside the box thinking gave birth to the new Blues and rock n’roll music. Both Zenith and The Rolling Stones are today living legends. No wonder that they are now teaming up.”
