Zeitwinkel introduced its new watch model “273° Saphir Bleu” a few months ago, nobody was able to see the actual watch except a few lucky customers in Japan.
That will be put right for British watch lovers when Zeitwinkel presents the unique timepiece with its transparent blue sapphire dial and patented large-date display at WATCHPRO Salon.
The dial is reminiscent of Zeitwinkel’s successful model 273° Saphir Fumé, but significantly more difficult to manufacture.
“The process that allows us to achieve this special blue colour and the LIGA process we use to apply indices and other dial components are very time-consuming. We can only make very few of these special dials every year, which subsequently limits the number of watches we can manufacture,” explains Zeitwinkel’s co-founder Peter Nikolaus.
So far, only a handful 273° Saphir Bleu have been manufactured and it is unlikely that the production pace will be able to keep up with the order book — catnip to collectors and investors in watches.
The watch is assembled by hand in Zeitwinkel’s atelier in Saint-Imier in the Swiss Jura and is powered by its own automatic inhouse caliber ZW0103 with power reserve of 72 hours.
“The warm color of the movement in combination with the exceptional blue transparent dial is absolutely amazing. From some angles, the dial gives the impression of a nearly solid, very elegant blue coloured dial. Just a small tilt of the wrist however reveals beautiful bright blue color tones and the details of the movement are brightly lit,” describes co-founder of Zeitwinkel, Professor Ivica Maksimovic.
The Zeitwinkel 273° Saphir Bleu is priced at CHF 15,500.
Zeitwinkel at WATCHPRO Salon
Zeitwinkel is one of the star brands at this year’s WATCHPRO Salon, a showcase of prestige watchmakers and a chance for brands, retailers and press to meet collectors and enthusiasts in 5-star luxury.
The two-day event takes place from November 12 to 13 at The Londoner, a brand new 5-star hotel on London’s Leicester Square.
