He is working with Christie + Co to sell the business &#8211; the same firm through which he bought the business in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from Christie + Co describes Ham &amp; Huddy as at &quot;the premium end of the jewellery market&quot;, providing a complete solution for customers, including repairs and valuations as well as the sale of fine jewellery.<\/p>\n<p>It sells jewellery from brands including Clogau and the Raphael Collection, a collection of silverware and pewter gifts, and watches from Citizen, Skagen, Rotary and Bering.<\/p>\n<p>The sale is being overseen by Jonathan Southgate of Christie + Co&rsquo;s south west retail team. He said: &ldquo;Ham &amp; Huddy is a business that has much in its favour &mdash; not least its location in the lively market town of Newton Abbot, which in itself is a gateway to both Dartmoor and the coastal resorts of Torquay and Teignmouth.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This, combined with Ham &amp; Huddy&rsquo;s excellent and historic trading performance, should help to generate interest both from buyers in the south west region, as well as further afield &mdash; as prospective purchasers from London and the south east may see this is an excellent opportunity to make a long-sought-after lifestyle change.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The freehold of Ham &amp; Huddy is available at a guide price of &pound;300,000, however, Downey is said to be open to creating a new lease for a negotiable term available down to zero premium &mdash; dependant on stock valuation &mdash; at an annual rent of &pound;23,500.<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties should contact Jonathan Southgate on 01392 285600.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A historic jewellery and watch shop in Newton Abbot, Devon, has been put on the market by its owner Rob Downey, offering interested parties a shop with workshop and portfolio of leading jewellery and watch brands.
