The British Retail Consortium, in conjunction with the Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers, have issued advisories on how to keep staff and customers safe when non-essential shops reopen.

It is not clear when the non-food retail sector will re-open for business and the final decision on this will be made by Government and the public health experts, BRC notes, however it is important to be ready.

For stores, the advice covers sanitisation, social distancing, avoiding crowds, handling stock and communicating with customers.

There is additional information for distribution and warehousing operations that adds topics such as how to manage staff rotas, getting to and from work, safety of delivery drivers and more.

Download the advisory for retailers here.
