{"id":46078,"date":"2019-03-12T12:59:02","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T12:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.watchpro.com\/?p=46078"},"modified":"2019-03-12T12:59:04","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T12:59:04","slug":"breaking-news-omega-unveils-golden-anniversary-speedmaster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.watchpro.com\/breaking-news-omega-unveils-golden-anniversary-speedmaster\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS: Omega unveils golden anniversary Speedmaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Omega was never going to let the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 first manned mission to the moon pass without celebration, and the watchmaker has not disappointed with the unveiling of a golden limited edition to mark the historic occasion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The watch adopts the design of the\u00a0Speedmaster BA145.022 chronograph, and forged it using a new 18ct gold alloy developed by Omega.<\/p>\n<p>The 42mm case, bracelet, dial, hour-markers and hour-minute hands have all been created in the alloy that Omega is calling 18ct Moonshine gold,\u00a0the color of which is a little paler than normal 18ct gold and is said to be inspired by the shining moonlight in a dark blue sky.<\/p>\n<p>The case houses the brand new hand wound Master Chronometer named caliber 3861.<\/p>\n<p>This golden anniversary watch is a recreation of a watch made for a celebratory dinner at which president Richard Nixon was given the first production model of a golden Speedmaster with burgundy bezel. The second numbered edition was given to vice president Spiro Agnew, while numbers 3-28 went to NASA astronauts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-44098\" src=\"https:\/\/usa.watchpro.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/OMEGA_Speedmaster-BA145.022_caseback.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2480\" height=\"3543\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Each of the watches was inscribed on the back with the message: \u201cto mark man\u2019s conquest of space with time, through time, on time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 recreation has a clear sapphire caseback, but a ring bears the inscription: &#8220;Apollo 11 \u2013 50th Anniversary \u2013 1969-2019. The First Watch Worn On The Moon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-44103\" src=\"https:\/\/www.watchpro.com\/2018\/11\/LONDON-POPPY-DAY-ROTARY.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2480\" height=\"3543\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Production is limited to 1,014 pieces \u2014 the same number as the original 1969 Speedmaster BA145.022.
