G-Shock has proved its latest GPW-2000 Gravitymaster can survive extreme conditions by sending it into the stratosphere attached to a meteorological flight balloon.

The watch took off from Yorkshire, reaching the near zero gravity conditions at 44.1km above earth where the temperature was recorded at -58C.

The watch survived 82 minutes in space before returning to earth. As a final test of the watch’s ruggedness, the last leg of its mission was a 65kph free-fall to earth from a height of 123m.

On board HD cameras captured every moment of the G-Shock’s flight.
