Launched to celebrate the 10 years since Frederique Constant began developing, manufacturing and assembling its own ‘Heart Beat’ movements, this Slimline Tourbillon is encased in solid 18ct gold and benefits from the brand’s 2014 silicone escapement technology.
The silicone (or silicium in French) escapement components offer the benefits of low mass and low friction as well as the material’s self-lubricating properties. The 2014 additions were the latest in a series of annual additions to the Heart Beat range that have seen 15 in-house calibres developed over the course of the decade and which always feature an aperture at the 6 o’clock position to showcase the escapement in motion.
This version of the 18ct gold Slimline Tourbillon is limited to just 10 pieces and, despite first appearances, features a dark green dial and alligator strap. The FC-980 calibre features 60-second tourbillon, perlage and Côtes de Genève decoration, 42-hour power reserve, day and night indicator and silicone escapement.
