WOTY 2012: Mechanical – HEBE Arrows of Time

Earlier this year WatchPro unveiled its Watches of the Year 2012 – the 10 winning timepieces and 90 highly commended watches that we felt boasted commercial appeal, innovation and had wowed consumers and retailers alike over the past 12 months.

Now we are showcasing a watch a day that made the cut in 2012. Today is the turn of re-emerging brand HEBE.

Highly Commended Mechanical Watch of the Year – HEBE Arrows of Time HB 23609-5800C

HEBE is a brand that prides itself on being created by horology experts. Indeed, its re-launch of sorts at BaselWorld in March marked a new era for a brand that dubs its wristwatches New Age.

Its Arrows of Time creation is a stylish take on skeletonised watches with a sharply defined design that makes it wholly modern but also a marvel to look at.

The movement is cut to showcase the theory of the Arrow of Time, mixing black PVD on the bridges and pink gold on the wheels. It is a 43mm timepiece housing a hand-wound UNITAS 6498 movement, decorated with blued screws.

The Arrows of Time watch aims to push the boundaries of skeletonised watches by combining a unique aesthetic of a purely mechanical timepiece housed between two sapphire case glasses, creating maximum transparency for the wearer to admire it through.

And finally its black alligator strap has a specialised matte-finish for a contemporary touch.
