WOLF sniffs opportunity in leather accessories market

Watch winder and jewellery box specialist is expanding into wallets, purses and travel accessories.

Watch winder specialist WOLF is on a roll right now, with a 39% increase in global turnover (wholesale and direct to consumer) last year, according to CEO Simon Wolf.

That momentum has encouraged the company to expand its repertoire, using its design, manufacturing, logistics and global distribution expertise to launch a broad range of leather and leather substitute accessories.

WOLF says it will be working with department stores, fashion chains and jewellers that have a strong giftware and accessories business.

The first collections will hit stores in June this year but were presented at menswear show Pitti Uomo in Italy and to journalists in London last week.

There are three collections: Mimi By Wolf is a line of women’s accessories; The W Collection is a range of black embossed leather goods with accents of gold; and The Signature Collection has WOLF’s signature interlocking Ws in gold on a range of brown vegan leather wallets, tech and travel accessories including toiletry bags and iPad cases.

Items for phones, tablets and credit cards are lined with RFID blocking layers so that they cannot be skimmed by scammers.

Prices for the accessories position them in competition with entry level items from the likes of Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger.
