Wolf beats 2014 distribution targets in the UK

Winder and watch box specialist Wolf exceeded its target for expanding its UK retail presence in 2014.

Wolf has been manufacturing and supplying jewellery boxes, and latterly watch-winders, since 1834 and has been in family hands for five generations.

With successfully developed markets around the world, including the US, Wolf refocused on the UK market in 2014 launching its range at Jewellery and Watch Birmingham in February and exhibiting at the London Watch Show in July.

Simon Wolf, managing director, set the company the target of achieving a network of 75 stockists and between 110 and 145 outlets in 2014.

Wolf commented: “The growth of our independent retailer base has been careful and steady, and we are delighted to have met this target by opening 89 accounts, some with multiple outlets, over the past 10 months. It is also gratifying and significant that multiples such as Mappin & Webb are selling our watch winders.

“Consolidating our position as a supplier which has a product that is good-looking, easy-to-sell and provides a no-fuss, easy solution for watch enthusiasts who need a winder is the key to our growth. The trade seems surprised just how well the winders sell to the consumer and how good the product is, meaning that they don’t have warranty issues.

“The launch of our dedicated UK website – www.wolf1834.co.uk – showing our full collection of winders and watch boxes and our new consumer brochure can only help stockists boost sales. We have also strengthened our UK sales team with the appointment of Sophie Bridges, who is assisting Matthew Jones with territory sales support.”

During 2014 Wolf was also accepted as a supplier member of luxury buying group, The Houlden Group. Wolf will be on hand to meet group members at Houlden’s next one-day meeting in London on February 24 as well as other events throughout the year.

This year Wolf will also be returning to Jewellery & Watch Birmingham at the beginning of February, where it will be reveal two new winder collections, and will also be looking to expand its European market by exhibiting at Baselworld for the first time in March.
