Since launching in the UK in September last year WeWood has sold 10,000 of its wooden watches.
WeWood is sold in 37 countries worldwide and last year the Italian brand signed a distribution deal with Winshport to launch in the UK. The brand now has 40 stockists in the UK.
Winshport said that the sales have been driven both by fashion-conscious consumers and shoppers looking for a more ethical watch choice.
Each WeWood watch is made from 100% natural recycled wood and is free from chemicals. It is powered by a Miyota movement.
The company has partnered with American Forests Global ReLeaf and Trees for the Future to ensure that one tree is planted for every watch sold. To date WeWood has planted 150,000 trees, with 5,000 of those planted in the UK.
WeWood UK sales director Natalie Cromie said: “The response to WeWood in the UK has been overwhelming so far. The popularity of the eco-friendly wooden watch is clearly on the rise and it can only get more exciting from here on. As we continue to get traction in the UK, we will concentrate on building new partnerships with watch retailers.”
