Wave predicts another challenging year in retail

Contemporary British jeweller Wave is predicting 2012 will be a year of continuing business challenges, the company’s founder Paul Henderson has predicted.

Speaking to Baselworld Daily News, the jeweller who runs five Wave stores in the North West and a successful web site with his wife Jo, says that 2012 will be a mixed year. “Those that succeed will have an open mind, seize opportunities when they arise, but also be cautious at the same time,” he revealed.

The husband and wife team were honoured as Retail Stars in the 2010 Professional Jeweller Hot 100.

Henderson’s advice to other jewellers is to source products with extreme care. “The good times we saw a few years ago will remain a distant memory throughout this year, so good solid buying and sensible decisions are what will help us thrive and grow for better times ahead,” he said.

Baselworld is the key exhibition in his calendar, Henderson disclosed. “If I had to choose only one show to attend then this would be it in my opinion. It is a magnet for new ideas, products and trends,” he stated.

Wave sells around 20 watch brands including Tissot, TW Steel, U-Boat and Hamilton.
