Ulysse Nardin and Girard-Perregaux have been back up and running making and servicing watches for 10 days now and will continue to ramp up production in May with a view to being fully operational by the end of the month if there is no resurgence of cases of Covid-19 in Switzerland.
Both brands are owned by Kering Group, home of the mighty Gucci, and both have the same chief executive, Patrick Pruniaux.
In today’s WatchPro Originals interview, we speak about how the Coronavirus has impacted production, distribution and marketing of this year’s collections.
Ulysse Nardin and Girard-Perregaux were both due to unveil their new watches at Watches & Wonders Geneva, and Mr Pruniauxsays he was ready for the event.
However, with Watches & Wonders becoming a online-only event because of the virus, and with customers and retailers’ minds pre-occupied with the pandemic, he decided to postpone launches until Geneva Watch Days, which is scheduled to take place from August 26 to 29.
