WATCHPRO ORIGINALS: Where now for Watches & Wonders Geneva?

Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie will promote fine watchmaking across events and digital platforms, a so-called “phygical” outreach programme.

Fabienne Lupo has been chairwoman and managing director of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) since 2005.

The foundation organises SIHH, now renamed Watches & Wonders Geneva, the show where Richemont brands have unveiled their watches every year alongside the likes of Hermes and Ulysse Nardin and a curated group of artisan independent watchmakers.

In total, there would have been 30 brands presenting at W&W this year.

All of those brands will now present their 2020 collections at a new online portal watchesandwonders.com, which goes live at midday, Central European Time, on Saturday, April 25.

30 brands will present their 2020 novelties online at Watchesandwonders.com from April 25 onwards.

FHH is also overseeing plans in 2021 that will see the full Watches and Wonders Geneva concept — a city-wide celebration of watchmaking and the exhibition at Palexpo Geneva in early April — running alongside a new show created by a Baselworld breakaway group that includes Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chopard and Chanel. LVMH’s TAG Heuer, Bulgari, Hublot and Zenith look certain to join.

FHH calls the combination of physical events and digital outreach its “phygital” initiative.
