WatchPro.com traffic rockets since start of Coronavirus outbreak

Watch world clamours for business news and insight at a time of unprecedented change.

The UK had only 28 confirmed cases of Coronavirus on March 1, although the damage coming in the direction of this country’s economy was already becoming apparent as the virus swept across the world from East to West.

Many of us were still in the denial phase at the time, believing that — like previous epidemics — we might get away unscathed.

WatchPro.com was already busy with coverage of the effects of Covid-19 on new watch launches and the exhibition industry, and our typical audience of around 150,000 unique visitors logged in during February.

As the pandemic has unfolded, WatchPro.com’s coverage of its effects has followed, and so has a new audience clamouring for information at such an uncertain time.

Over 236,000 unique visitors came to WatchPro.com in the month to April 6, generating almost 400,000 page views.

WatchPro estimates around 20,000 visitors to the website are from trade professionals, so more than 90% are from the public looking for information about the watch brands they love.

Stories about Rolex have generated huge volumes of traffic, particularly articles speculating about prices on secondary markets and predictions on what might be launched this year.
