Watchfinder’s IT wizards work their magic


The team responsible for the back-end that powers Watchfinder’s online pre-owned watch activities has been honoured for its work at an industry awards ceremony.

The Maidstone-based outfit’s IT department landed the coveted ‘Development team of the Year’ prize at the Digital Leaders Awards, beating the likes of industry giants Ticketmaster to top spot.

The accolade comes in a year of recognition for Watchfinder’s eight-strong group of techies after it was recently chosen by Microsoft UK to highlight its work with the software brand’s Azure application.

Watchfinder’s customer service team, meanwhile, has also received recognition after being shortlisted as a finalist in the KEIBA awards for the Customer Service and Commitment category.

“We know that our customers receive the best possible customer service and we understand how valuable their positive feedback can be when we are trying to market our services,” stated the firm. “As a result of this we encourage all of customers to leave a review on an independent review site, TrustPilot.co.uk.”

Watchfinder has so far accumulated more than 5,000 reviews and its overall rating is 9.8/10. This is highest of any watch retailer across the jeweller industry, it claims.

Founded in 2002 Watchfinder & Co retails certified pre-owned fine watches. In addition to its website and stores, Watchfinder operates a certified servicing centre in Maidstone where the company’s expert technicians use manufacturer-approved machinery to service timepieces.

Every watch repair and refurbishment is followed by extensive testing, ensuring that each watch falls within the manufacturer’s specified tolerance before being returned to its owner or sold. This allows the business to provide every watch sold with a one-year warranty and ensure it reaches the customer in perfect condition.

The service centre has already recruited some additional staff, allowing more watches to be made available for sale and quicker. The extra resource will also mean that the business can offer watch servicing to the general public as well as customers who have already bought from them. The business also plans to create an apprenticeship programme to encourage more young people to become watchmakers.
