Watches of Switzerland to open multibrand boutique with Rolex in Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station, the decommissioned plant on the Southbank of the River Thames, will open its retail and leisure space in 2021.

Watches of Switzerland will add an eighth multibrand showroom in London next year with a boutique opening in the shopping mall within Battersea Power Station.

In addition there are seven multibrand stores or Rolex boutiques at London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.

Battersea Power Station, the decommissioned plant on the Southbank of the River Thames, will open its retail and leisure space in 2021.

Retailers are set to bring a new energy to the heritage landmark, setting up shop in the two Turbine Halls, the management of Battersea Power Station describes.

Turbine Hall A, which was built in the 1930s and evokes the Art Deco glamour of the era, will be home to the premium collection of brands, and Turbine Hall B, which was completed in the 1950s, and has more of a brutalist, industrial look and feel, will house an eclectic range of more contemporary fashion brands.

Once open, the Power Station will be home to over a hundred established, luxury and emerging retail, food and leisure brands.

The only detail about the Watches of Switzerland’s showroom to have been revealed is that Rolex will be its anchor brand.

Brian Duffy, CEO of parent organisation The Watches of Switzerland Group, says he is delighted to be in such an iconic landmark.

“We think the whole project South of the river is an amazing development in all aspects of residential and commercial. We have looked at the Power Station on the landscape for a number of years and never imagined it would become such a retail destination. We are proud to be one of the flagship stores anchored by the country’s number one Luxury watch brand, Rolex,” he says.

  1. What’s the point of Rolex opening any stores ?
They cant super wont supply any watches, so its complete nonsense to open more outlets, they are not supporting the buying public.

  2. This is an excellent point. I only wish Rolex ever gave interviews because this would be question number 1.

  3. Thanks for your reply Rob, let’s hope when this is over, Rolex will find a way to get me a fine watch of my choice , they should remember this come summer time the hulk cash will most likely be spent on a new Harley, I will not wait forever I’ve waited long enough,

  4. The reason is the relationship between Rolex and a lot of old POS/dealers has changed, dealerships are moved to new parties or relationships willing to invest in the brand and it’s prestige meaning monobrand boutiques. Also new parties are becoming Tudor dealers without being a Rolex dealer, this also too give maxium support to the brand. Rolex is changing, I’m still waiting for a Rolex museum ;)
