WATCH TRENDS: Living Coral revealed as 2019’s Pantone colour of the year

Pantone Institute predicts that the pastel pink hue will find its way into interior design, fashion and accessories.

Prepare for an explosion of blush pinks at Baselworld and SIHH as the colour Living Coral, which was named as the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2019, finds its way into the watch world.

The feminine colour looks likely to be picked up by the more fashion-forward brands, so expect to see it used by the likes of Daniel Wellington, Olivia Burton and Cluse; and don’t be surprised if this year’s trend for interchangeable straps leads to many more brand offering Live Coral straps as an option.

“Colour is an equalising lens through which we experience our natural and digital realities and this is particularly true for Living Coral,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute.

“With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord,” she adds.
