Watch industry stands against racism with support for #blackouttuesday

Scores of brands and retailers show their support for equality by turning their Instagram feeds black.

Cartier and IWC, both in the ranks of top 10 of watchmakers in the world, showed their support for anti-racism campaigners by turning their Instagram feed black yesterday.

Scores of other brands and retailers followed; standing behind protests that have grown over the past week from city centre marches in the United States to a global movement across social media inspiring people to take to the streets to highlight the injustices faced by black and ethnic minority communities.

WatchPro’s Instagram was punctuated all day by the black symbol used to show support for the #blackouttuesday movement.

Retailers and brands spreading the message include Cartier, Roger Dubuis, Ulysse Nardin, Montblanc, Daniel Wellington, Backes & Strauss, Frederique Constant, Chanel, Chopard, IWC, TImex, Zenith, G-Shock, Meccaniche Veloci, A. Lange & Sohne, Gucci, Movado, Storm London, Shinola, Bovet, Bell & Ross, WOLF, Weir & Sons, Selfridges, Rox, London Jewelers, Bucherer, Chrono24, F.Hinds and Watchbox.
