Watch ambassadors in New York tennis showdown

Two titans of tennis will meet on court at the BNP Paribas Showdown in New York in a match that is also set to engulf the watch industry.

Andy Murray, brand ambassador for Rado, and Novak Djokovic, brand ambassador for Seiko, will fight it out at the event, which Rado supports as Official Timekeeper, on March 3 also the date for the second annual World Tennis Day.

Speaking about Rado’s sponsorship of the event, Rado CEO Matthias Breschan said: “We are really excited to be a part of such a fantastic match, which we are sure will prove the hottest ticket in town. It’s a great venue with some amazing players – including Andy Murray – and Rado is proud to be the official timekeeper. We are sure all 18,000 seats will be full this year.”

The match will serve as a rematch of their 2012 US Open Final match, when Murray made history by winning and taking his first Grand Slam victory and the first for a UK male in 76 years.

The battle between the champions, who are men’s world no. 7 and no. 2 respectively, is just one highlight of the event’s line-up, which will also see the best doubles partnership ever – the Bryan brothers – take on the legendary McEnroe brothers.

Official timing at the event will be represented by corner clocks in the shape of the Rado HyperChrome on court.
