VIDEO: Omega unites George Clooney and Buzz Aldrin to commemorate brand milestone

Nearly 50 years on from man-kind’s first steps on the moon, the watch industry is celebrating another monumental achievement, the first watch on the moon.

July 20 marked the 48th anniversary of the first human steps on the lunar surface, taken by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in 1969. It was in this moment, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch became the first watch worn on the moon.

As part of the Speedmaster 60th Anniversary, OMEGA has produced a short documentary, ‘Starmen’, featuring George Clooney and his boyhood hero: Buzz Aldrin.

The documentary brings the two men together to view footage of the Apollo space flight mission and talk about its effects on them and the world. During the feature the men explore Omega Speedmaster and the role is played as the first watch on the moon.

Earlier this year Omega announced it is looking to capitalise on the 60th milestone of three of its famous lines with the launch of three new anniversary pieces.
