VIDEO: Diane Kruger for Jaeger-LeCoultre

Jaeger-LeCoultre is marking its 180th anniversary by reinventing iconic models and creating a short film with brand ambassador Diane Kruger.

The Swiss watchmaker is celebrating the significant landmark by giving key models the Rendez-Vous and Reverso a makeover.

It has also created a short film featuring Kruger, called Reivent Yourself, which focusses on the personality of the actress and is created by director Fabienne Berthaud. It charts a young ballet dancing girl blossoming into actress and finally model Kruger.

The film is intended to evoke a sense of femininity, ambition, vibrancy and self-accomplishment, which Jaeger-LeCoultre says ties in with the Reverso and Rendez-Vous.

As part of the 180 year celebrations, the complicated and ultra-thin, mechanical Rendez-Vous and Reverso collections are being reinvented. Pieces receiving a makeover includes the Reverso Cordonnet Duetto, which will boast over 1,250 diamonds and is inspired by a 1936 model by Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The watchmaker also introduces the Rendez-Vous Celestial, which features an 18ct white gold case, with diamonds across the case sides all the way to the crowns and the bezel . Additionally, the hour arc tops a disc, which creates a vision of the sky, with the constellation appearing on a precious lapis lazuli plate. A shooting star has also been incorporated, in the form of a second hand that’s adorned with an inverted diamond. The watch uses the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 809 mechanical automatic movement. Glare- proofed sapphire crystal at the back of the case makes the movement visible.
