Vacheron Constantin London Craft Week opens at V&A

Vacheron Constantin opened the doors to London Craft Week, a new event the watch maker has co-founded, last night.

The event, held at London’s V&A museum, was opened by colourful potter Grayson Perry, who met with one of Vacheron Constantin’s watch engravers.

Julien Marchenoir, marketing director of Vacheron Constantin, which is founding partner of London Craft Week, said “London Craft Week offers the unique opportunity for the public to meet modern-day artisans and to listen to their story told in both words and actions. We have no doubt that this inaugural London Craft Week will be seen as a calling to encourage a wider scope for next year.”

Perry was among a guest list of leading creatives, influencers, captains of industry, editors and directors who were also treated to a private showing of the V&A’s ‘What is Luxury?’.

Perry said: “This is a great moment acknowledging that craft is woven into many parts of our lives. It is the place where we connect with the materials all around us. Craftsman working with their hands are relevant to modern life and encompass so many businesses from tailors and jewellers to car manufacturers and joiners, ensuring that craft isn’t some sort of nostalgic thing.”

London Craft Week runs until Sunday. For the full programme visit www.londoncraftweek.com.
