This extremely rare yellow 18ct gold Patek Philippe chronograph was one of the top lots in a December auction of important modern and vintage timepieces at Antiquorum’s New York sale room.
This watch falls into the latter category – vintage – dating back to the 1940s; the watch was made in 1948 and sold on June 14, 1949.
This fine example of prestige watchmaking was helped along to its final price of US$128,500 (£80,950) by the fact that it was accompanied by an extract from the Patek archives.
