Ulysse Nardin collaborates with Bucherer for new addition to Blue line

The new Freak X Bucherer Blue watch is made of carbonium, a sustainable carbon composite made using discarded aviation materials.

Ulysse Nardin and Bucherer 1888 have partnered to bring the new Freak X Bucherer Blue 43mm timepiece.

The latest addition to the Blue line will be available exclusively in Bucherer boutiques and online at the company’s website, beginning this month.

The Freak X Bucherer Blue is constructed from carbonium, a resilient, light and sustainable carbon composite commonly found in the fuselage and wings of modern aircraft.

The material has around 40% less environmental impact than other composites because it is used making discarded materials from the aviation industry.

The new UN-230 calibre is crafted from silicum with nickel flyweights and stabilising microblades.

A statement from Bucherer reads: “Starting with its experimental movement (it turns once on itself every hour), the signature, baguette-shaped carousel concept has no dial, instead using a central bridge as the minute hand while one of the wheels indicates hours.”

Details including the indexes, gear train at six o’clock, and Ulysse Nardin logo on the caseback are highlighted in a vivid blue.

It is limited to 88 pieces, in honour of the year 1888 when Bucherer was founded.

Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Ulysse Nardin, commented: “Ulysse Nardin is proud to present this exciting timepiece, made with a respected partner and in harmony with our brand philosophy.

“The innovative technology and disruptive design are emblematic of what we do every day at Ulysse Nardin. The deep blue color symbolizes the ocean, our planet and all that our brand stands for.”
