UK Jewellery Conference to welcome non-CMJ members

By Stacey Hailes

The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) will open up day one of its annual UK Jewellery Conference to non-CMJ retailers for the very first time this year.

This year’s UK Jewellery Conference will be held at the East Midlands Conference Centre and Orchard Hotel from October 3-4 2016, and will see speakers from around the world offer insight and inspiration to industry delegates.

Lucy Reece-Raybould, executive director of business development and marketing at the CMJ, comments: “We’ve had such great feedback about the UK Jewellery Conference, especially on the calibre of the keynote speakers and the networking opportunities between members and suppliers, combined with requests to attend from outside our membership, that the next natural step is to open it up to non-CMJ retailers so everyone can benefit.

“Supporting independent jewellery retailers to thrive and maintain their independence is our primary aim at the CMJ; we want to welcome non-CMJ retailers so that they too can benefit from such a worthwhile and relevant industry event.”

Day one of the conference will hear from speakers including retail consultant Howard Saunders, motivational speaker Damian Hughes, and trainer and presenter Jonathan Bradshaw, who will address delegates on the topic of the psychology behind sales.

Other speakers this year include Stella Layton, chief executive and assay master of the Assay Office Birmingham, and jewellery expert Joanna Hardy. The event will be hosted by BBC TV presenter Bill Turnbull.

The day will be punctuated by smaller seminar break-out sessions and networking groups, where attendees will be invited to hear from experts on topics including visual merchandising, recruitment, social media and marketing and have the opportunity to ask for advice and support tailored to their own businesses.

The UK Jewellery Conference 2016 is sponsored by TH March and held in association with the International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR).
