Twitter growth withers as watch retailers feel the likes from Facebook

Growth of Twitter followers for the top 10 watch retailers in Britain has all-but ended, according to the 2018 Reach List compiled by WatchPro.

The Reach List examines the web traffic and social media audience of the country’s leading watch businesses. The full report will be published in the January edition of WatchPro.

The average increase in Twitter followers for the top 10 jewellers and specialist watch shops was just 7% from December 2016 to December 2017.

Over the same period, Instagram followers increased on average by 76% and Facebook likes rose by an average of 113%.

Signet Jewelers brands H. Samuel and Ernest Jones take the first two spots in the top 10 retailers for Twitter followers, but come only eighth and tenth respectively in the rankings for Instagram followers.

Pre-owned watch specialist Watchfinder is the number one business on Instagram, with trading platform Chrono24 in second place.

Chrono24 also rides high in the Facebook chart, beaten to second place only by Watchshop, the UK’s biggest online-only retailer.
