Tissot scores fresh four-year FIBA basketball deal

Tissot has extended its global partnership with the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) for another four years, in a move that brings fresh responsibilities as FIBA’s official watch and timekeeper.

The Swatch Group brand will retain its global partner association in all main FIBA competitions until 2016, including the first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup which is due to take place in Spain in 2014.

The partnership extends to timekeeping and data services and offers Tissot extended marketing rights as official watch and official timekeeper of FIBA. The brand will also support award presentations at FIBA competitions.

Tissot has worked with FIBA since 2008 and French basketball star Tony Parker as one of its main brand ambassadors.

Tissot president François Thiébaud said: “We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with FIBA. Being associated with such an international sport as basketball underlines our dynamic nature and our values of precision and performance.

"In turn, we will keep rising to the challenge of ensuring that success and victory at that level are firmly rooted in precision and fairness. Offering exclusive timekeeping services and unique designed watches also gives our passionate customers an additional reason to be proud of their commitment to Tissot."

Parker described Tissot’s partnership renewal as “excellent news for my sport".

FIBA’s secretary general and International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Patrick Baumann said the federation was very excited to continue its relationship with Tissot.

"The partnership with Tissot has delivered great benefits for FIBA in the past and we look forward to jointly making a next step in the new cycle," he said.
